Roof lining Rattle/Creek Help needed

Post by john160 »

Hello all , my name is John form Greece and i am proud owner of a 2009 Candy White 160 Scirocco w/ manual box and sunroof.
First of all excuse my for my bad English.
For more than a year i have a very a annoying problem  .
It started when i had left my car under the hot sun (>38 degree Celcius) for more than 2 hours of course with sun protection on the dashboard.

So my problem is that the roof lining is making a creek/rattle in the area that its attached with the metal frame of the sunroof (inside the car).
This creek can also be heard even if i tap my finger on it.
It gives me the feeling that in someway the roof lining has been detached.
I will try to post an image during the afternoon of the excact point of my problem.

Has anyone of you encounter any similar problem?
Any advise of how to remove the roof lining in order to fix the problem because i dont want to go to the dealer (Most dealers say that is a natural problem)

I'd also be interested in any comments as my sunroof is also creaky and noisy.

I used silicone spray on the rubber seals which helped initially but it seems to be getting worse.

I am having this exact problem with my 2009 Scirocco. The rattle is coming from just above the passenger seat where the roof interior lining meets the sunroof. When I apply pressure & support it with the palm of my hand it stops so something id definitely loose up there.

How is this picture made? Photographed from the outside or inside of the car?

Same problem with mine... maybe it's general 2009 problem... Has anybody reported it directly to the manufacturer http://paybyphonecasino.eu/ ? Maybe the would take responsibility for mass fault...

I cant make out the photo either, but this post (with photo) was put up best part of 4 years ago now and the OP seems to not use the forum now. I had the headlining rattle on my 2009 car, but that was almost certainly caused by it having to be removed to fit a new GPS 'shark fin' aerial. It was only in the corner just above the rear window and I just used some very strong double sided tape to stop it rattling, but even when it did rattle it was not much of an irritation. No doubt here though it is different when the pano roof is fitted.

I have finally fixed my panoramic roof rattle. I just putted some lithium spray grease on both guide rails with a small brush from inside the car.
In the workshop manual of the roof i can't find that i needs any lubrication. But found another Audi document with some information.
It's perfectly quit now, it frustrated me bigtime!
