HELP! VW trying to sting me?
I have a VW 1.4 Scirocco TSI and I've took it in due to weird noises when starting up and they've investigated it and think it's the timing chain they said and they're not 100%! And need £235 for 2 hours work to strip the engine down to have a look, surely warranty should cover this? Not sure what to do, I can't leave it but I shouldn't have to pay that surely?

If you have a warranty they will pay for the diagnosis as long as the problem is covered under warranty. However you will have to agree to pay the charge to get the ball rolling. Until the fault is known you can't really proceed. Good luck.

Re: HELP! VW trying to sting me?
Cheers for the reply! I've authorized it but it's annoying how they're unsure of a problem and they said there could be a problem with either the chain or the sump, but no guarantee of them actually altering anything! I wasn't told when I got the warranty which is why I was so confused when they told me.
