Speedo confusing
Hi all, I traded in my 2010 GT Roc in yesterday for a lovely brand new 2015 R-line, I love the car but I have one gripe. What have they done to the speedo! my old one was fine but the new one the numbers and marks that relate to the relevant speed are all over the place some numbers are big some are small and some marks don't line up with the relevant speeds. I now find it hard to exactly see what speed I'm driving at, not good past speed cameras. I searched the internet for this and a car review from last month found exactly the same and said the speedo was confusing, so not just me! Any body else noticed this on brand new Rocs?

Yes - I have read about this 'cluttered' layout, I think the MK7 Golf has a similar display, poor design really, you want the speedo to be simple to read. I am sure you will get used to it but enjoy your new car!

Re: Speedo confusing
I noticed this on ours when we collected it on Monday. It's very annoying. Especially when you have the speed in KPH on the MFD!! Apparently you can't change the MFD to display MPH instead but you can change it to read MPH on the large digital display. I did it last night using VCDS.

Might be time to invest in VCDS then, just the excuse I need to justify buying it. Do you have to put things like the big speedo mod back to standard when your car goes in for a service if the cars under warranty?mydogisbald wrote:I noticed this on ours when we collected it on Monday. Yes I've had a facelift since September last year, the only thing I don't love about it is the ridiculous speedometer design! Don't know what they were thinking, they couldn't have made it look more confusing and messy if they had tried...

Interested to see all the differences. Did some googling but must are the European spec KMPH.
I think the R is slightly different from the other too?

Yep that's the one. What are they thinking of! 30 & 70 MPH seem to be an after thought and 40 & 60 MPH don't line up with any marking they are in the middle of twoselleym wrote:Wow that is stupid busy...

Re: Speedo confusing
Nothing different to about 99% of cars out there.
The marks for MPH are clearly marked on the outer ring. With KPH on the inner ring.

Re: Speedo confusing
Yes- the speedo is well 'crowded', that really is poor design, only needs mph to be indicated and the MFD displays KPH anyway, completely unneccessary.

Re: Speedo confusing
how can that confuse you ? the number closest to the edge of the speedo are mph, nothing else to it really

Re: Speedo confusing
Its the mixture of sizes some MPH numbers are small and some are large and look at 40 mph the marks don't line up with the number. I know a lot of speedos have MPH & KPH but its just the layout. like I said in my earlier post its not just me this was mentioned in a car review from last month.robb wrote:how can that confuse you ? the number closest to the edge of the speedo are mph, nothing else to it really

Re: Speedo confusing
They should have made the MPH numbering a different colour to the KPH.

Re: Speedo confusing
They needed to push the MPH closer to the outside of the dial and move the KPH further in.
The numbers are all mixed up.
