my stereo is confusing me.
Picked up my Scirocco this weekend, I am trying to decipher how everything works. it is a March 09 car with an RCD510 stereo. The stereo has a DAB button and when pressed it goes into the DAB screen, with station lists, presets, etc.. however there is no sound, when you scan for stations it says something like "no ensembles found".
I would assume if the stereo didn't have DAB the DAB button would do nothing (like the phone button) but as it goes into a DAB screen does that mean I have DAB but it is not working, or do I not have DAB??
thanks
Mike

Re: Do i have DAB?
You could take the radio out to see it the dab antenna is there, that message your getting only appears when there's no dab signal. Front facia poppa off with either the help of trim tools or an old credit card, then 4 torch screws, pull the radio out and there should be 2 antenna leads going into the back

DAB was an option on the RCD, you have a DAB button on the RHS buttons, if you haven't you'll have TIM

Re: Do i have DAB?
The DAB radio had a different antenna amplifier to the standard FM receiver (two outputs at different frequencies). It is located under the right hand side rear internal trim. If the radio was retro-fitted it may not have been changed or an aftermarket separate antenna removed? Another possibility is that the antenna in the rear quarter glass has been damaged. The right hand one (behind the driver seat) is the DAB antenna. For FM both sides are used so could still get FM but not DAB.
I retro fitted a DAB radio and had to change the amplifier and run an additional cable to the radio.
