Urgent Help - How big is the Scirocco Boot

Post by u37255 »

Hi all,

Firstly, thanks to all for the useful information on the site.

Im looking to replace my company car and I've narrowed it down to a BMW 3 series and the Scirocco (the VW is a good £70pm cheaper). I have test driven both cars (318d and Vw 2.0 GT) and without a doube both are exceptional. Although a great drive, the BMW is a bit boring and Im only 30, so I really fancy the Scirocco.

Problem - baby due September. Solution - trying to convince the good lady that the VW is the car for us!

the boot size is key and I forgot when test driving to put my Golf Clubs in the boot to see if they can fit. The man at VW has assured me that golf clubs will fit in the boot (minus my drivers) but has anyone put their golf bag in the boot?

Do you know the dimensions? It's not on the VW site and I cant find details in any review?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

:)

If it's any help, we can get a Phil & Teds double buggy + the weekly food shop in the boot. We also managed to get two travel cots and overnight bags in (minus the buggy).

Completely silenced my wife's moaning about buying an impractical car...

If it's any help, I can get 2 protection racket drum bags in the boot. They are bigger than golf bags!

The biggest problem is not the capacity of the boot but the access to the boot, it is very high compared to any other car that I have owned :(

I’m a bit of a short arse and have struggled when retrieving heavy loads after the shifted to near the back seat during transit.

Boring to look at for sure, but not at all boring to drive!
Driven many cars (hired) for the past 3 years, one of them a 320d which I drove for 6 months up untill I got my Scirocco.
I thought it was brilliant, but yes the Scirocco is "younger" and more fun!

thanks all.

I think this convinces the good lady that it's possible. Now all I need to do is to make sure you can get a new born in and out the bacj with isofix. Any experiences anyone?

Thanks

It's definately possible, we often have both kids in the back and the Scirocco does have isofix. The only thing I would say is that you have to shoe horn the seats in and it can be a bit hard on your back.

Sister has one of those smaller collapsable buggies, took her, my mum, and my 15 month old nephew to hampton court palace for a day out last week, no problems, only difficulty is finding a buggy that collapses, as ive said before the Roc is easy to get in / out of back seat, i found it no problem to pull the seat forward and pull out his car seat.
