My Car Is Dead

Post by C00PS »

So i've been in Dubai working for two months. I come home and get in my car and it's totally dead! Even when i get out the car the windows don't close.

I'm thinking the battery is completely flat like most of you are thinking. But the questions are.....

What has this done to my car overall?
Will it have reset everything?
Will i need a new battery?
Will the electrics be ok?

Helllllppppppp please.

Give your car a bump/jump start, and go for a long drive to give the battery a chance to recharge, sometimes you are fortunate and the battery is okay, sometimes it starts to breakdown the battery so you will need a new one! It wont have done anything to your car, but if you have a REVO map on it then you may need that reinstalling by your dealer! Other than that everything else should be fine.

The Revo map will not be affected by the flat battery as it's hel in non-volatile EEPROM within the ECU. Fuel trims will be reset but over a short period of time they will adapt.

When the car starts, the ESP and steering light will probably be on but those will go off after a short drive one the steering angle sensor has calibrated.

Only other thing is the code for the headunit, if it's not the unit the car left the factory with.

All sorted thanks lads! RAC came out and luckily it was just a flat battery. Went out for a long drive and now all is ok.
