I'd take the insurance money and go car shopping. I don't think it would be worth the hassle spending ££££'s on a car that's going to be significantly reduced in value... and hope that the car doesn't have any reliability issues after the repair. Plus it would probably be quicker to find and buy another car than to repair the crashed one. That's just me though, I'm sure others will think otherwise!

I guess it’ll all depend on what the insurance company value the car at. I think the usual process is that they’ll class it as written off if the damage is over half the value of the car. Wait and see what the insurance assessors say and then weigh up the options, if the damage isn't too bad it may be more economical for them to just repair the car. Let us know the result anyway.

Sorry to hear this mate,
If damage isnt that bad at the rear ( ie quater panels not creased )then you may find that they will repair the car.
If airbags didnt come out then looking @ front damage its not all that bad.
I worked @ a insurance approved bodyshop in MET department and i would say that it will be approx £3-4k repair.

Theres no such thing as "grey area" im just plain and simple "black & white"

MET is basically stripping them down when they come in, then when all new parts have been painted put the job back together including anything else like, radiators, front panels, headlights, airbags.Cthejackal wrote:Hi guys,
had a call from my bodyshop on Friday saying the Roc's going to be repaired, but they said at this time they have been given the "insurance engineer's word" that it'll be repaired... so as far as i'm concerned i'm still not quite out of the woods yet.
The bodyshop said they're going to start stripping the car down and as of friday, the repair cost was up to 5 grand. Said if there's more that needs replacing as they strip it they will add it to the cost, which doesn't make much sense to me as surely this would need to be approved too!?
Anyhow, i'm going to wait for a call tomorrow and hopefully they'll receive the approval confirmation in writing from the insurer to have the repair work go ahead.
PS what's MET Scirocco1984? interesting to have the opinion of someone who's got an understanding of the industry!
Then from me it went round to the valet & QC bay.
Really good job and enjoyed it very much, its just the bodyshop trade goes quiet sometimes and people end up out of the door so moved to a move secure job, family and all that jazz, House, Wife, 2 kids and 1 in the oven, 2 cars, Motorbike, pets hahaha you need security.

Do you not have any photos of the door before the car was taken away?
Also sorry to hear about the accident.

If it wasn't there before hand (and you should have had a damage report from the towing company) then I would complain
It wouldn't surprise me if the towing company damaged it.
I reckon that could be PDR'd for about 80 quid both sides. I had a dent on my door repaired on my old Golf by our Dent guy.
