Cold air intakes
Which systems don't require the removal of the engine cover? Don't think the tsi is very pretty naked....

Re: Cold air intakes
it was the first mod i carried out when i got my 'rocco, fitted it with the REVO stage 2 intake pipe, so when they work together i can notice a small change, obviously never going to do wonders just from an intake, but throttle response seems to be a slight bit sharper, and it really does make a nice noise

Not the vwr system but love the sound of the apr carbonio system. Gives a throaty sound, slight improvement of throttle response and looks pretty cool!

Re: Cold air intakes
Hi,
I'm interested in buying a VWR Cold air induction kit, problem is I've heard to many reports of the oiled foam filter caking your Mass air flow sensor with its oil, sending your idle speed and engine management crazy (can't be good for engine).
Anyone with a VWR CAI had any issues?

Re: Cold air intakes
Ive had mine fitted for about 6 months now and no problem at all, and if it was a problem with the oil from the foam going back then with would be the same for all the CAIs as they all have a similar setup

Re: Cold air intakes
The filters come pre-oiled so there is no issue.
Issues tend to arise when owners clean and re-oil the filters. People can use too much oil causing it to get into the airstream and contaminating the MAF.

Re: Cold air intakes
Yeah that's I thought but in answer to danfalcon's comments, people are having issues with all manufactures of CAI kits that have oiled filters. They also suggest that you are sacrificing inferior filtration and damaged MAF (especially K&N) for a whoosh sound............although it does sound good!
Carbonspeed do a CAI kit with a non oiled triple foam Pipercross filter, looks a bit like the Carbonio one. Anyone have one of these fitted?.......not sure how good the filtration would be on a non oiled filter.
