Yes I think it would look better and I'd like to do it myself. Do you know the best way to get the badges off and where to buy the blade vw badges from?danielabbott89 wrote:I have treated my Scirocco this weekend. It had its first wash for over a month yesterday (it's dirty already). I finally swapped the silver VW badges for some black ones I got from eBay and then took it (the Mrs and the dog) for a spin to Formby beach.
I am liking the look of the black badge on the front but I am a bit unsure on the one at the back. Do you think I need to de-badge it? Looks a bit daft with the silver scirocco and tsi badge. Thoughts?
What did you do to your Scirocco today?

I warmed the adhesive up with a hair dryer and then put a membership card down the back to prise it away from the bonnet. I gave it a bit of a clean and then warmed up the back of the new badge and held it in place for a minute or so.StuWright13 wrote:Yes I think it would look better and I'd like to do it myself. I had the dreaded Glow Plug + Engine Warning Light on my Rocco last week after only owning the car for 2months (2nd hand)
So today, the warranty company have agreed to replace the Turbo, only going to cost me £180 as the cost of replacement exceeds the agreement.

No idea the 2.0tsi GT gets good long distance mpg. Always get 40+ between Durham and Gatwick doing 80-85 er I mean 69 . No idea what you would get going 70 the whole way!

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
Sorted out an annoying rattle that was p*ssing me off. It only showed itself between about 1200 and 1800 rpm and it sounded like it was coming from the dashboard at the base of the windscreen. After a lot of searching on this and other forums, I finally tracked it down to the bonnet stay. I wrapped some insulating tape around the bottom of the stay, where it goes through the plastic retaining thing and, voila, no more rattle. Hooray.
I also removed the soundaktor. Jury's out on this one at the moment. The car's quieter, particularly at idle and while cruising at motorway speeds, but I miss the throaty sound it made when pushing a bit harder (yes, my car's a diesel and I know that the sound isn't real but ....). I'm gonna give it a while before deciding whether or not it stays out. (I have read that some people have fitted a switch, so that you get the best of both worlds. Hmm)
