Remote central locking only unlocks drivers door

Post by gunnermatt »

Currently when I use my remote locking keyfob it only opens the drivers door, then press it again to open the passenger door.

Anyone know of a way to get it just to open both on one press

My rocco doesn't have the computer with the options menus...

I would suggest VCDS.

I'm fairly certain you can change it to both locks using your multi function display settings on your dashboard/steering wheel buttons. I check on mine and tell you exactly how.

Sorry, just read the last bit of your post again, I didn't know you could buy Scirocco's without the MFD display/settings.

Mine does the same! I don't even understand the point... Maybe if there is a suspicious car parked on the right side of the car, then when they see you unlocking the car, might think they can rob you by entering on passenger door, but it's locked. Then you are already in there and lock all the doors and escape. It's the only explanation I have! :D Apart from that, only unlocking driver's door is simply stupid.

It's to prevent someone jumping in the passenger seat while you're in the process of starting the car. There have been cases of this happening to women it car parks in the past.

Otherwise, as I mentioned above, I am sure you require VCDS if no highline MFD.

I have helped another member of the forum achieve what you are asking using VCDS.
He had low line MFD and no steering wheel buttons.

It will also prevent the door locking mechanism to worn out sooner than later, as you won't open the passenger door as many times as the driver's door, I guess... I have this option in my 2009 Scirocco in the MFD and I opted to leave it on. If I have a passenger with me I just need to press the button twice to unlock the other door. :)

Isn't this just a setting in the mfd?

If you just have the stalk press and hold the top half of the rocker switch. That should bring up a menu with

Setting
Audio
Mfd

Then chose settings I think it comes under convinence and there should be tick boxes for locking/unlocking with 1 button on the key.

If you have steering wheel controls move to settings and convinence and menu should be the same.

Never argue with an idiot! They will bring you down to there level..... Then win experience!
