Currently approaching nine-thousand miles mark and loving every one of them but before a recent trip from Scotland to London I got some comments from mates about my irresponsible behaviour. They reckon I should be keeping the miles down to keep some sort of decent resale value in the machine, personally, I just don't see it that way. I'm not minted but I don't follow that reasoning myself.
Is this really a concern for you guys? When I bought the machine I planned to enjoy it, not preserve it as pristine and as new as possible. I've got a big trip planned for the Summer: Scotland to Finland and back again, around 5674 miles return
How about you guys, keeping the miles down or thrashing it for every penny it's worth?
my 2.0tsi was six months old on saturday and broke the 12,000 barrier, its having a quiet few months and i'm not to worried as work give me a generous mileage allowance which takes care of depreciation

to be honest if your buying a car and worried about putting miles on it then theres no point in driving it, at the end of the day the roc is a mass produced car, not some sort of one off machine, enjoy it while you can i say

Hama, I traded in a Mk5 Golf GTtdi in for my 'Roc, cos I was about to do small mileage..that changed quickly due to personel reasons. Regular weekly trips back and forth to Bournemouth have meant I have just passed 9000 miles, however, Im like you - I love driving and as such im not bothered on the mileage. It was bought to drive not to look at! Actually, im sure that the engine has loosened up some more recently lol! Enjoy every mile I say..

Had mine coming up to 4 months, only just done 2.5k and thats with quite a few long journeys for shows and seeing family over the country etc... It just does not get the use it deserves
Glad to hear there's a bit of consensus on this one, I was beginning to be swayed by the mates who grudge anything other than driving the odd weekend jaunt to the Highlands. Working offshore, I get a load of time to myself when I'm at home I can easily find hundreds of miles added to the odometer on a daily basis!
Mind you, a Polo Bluemotion in a Roccy body might be better for round town! Speaking of which, I reckon once there are more New Polos and Golfs out on the road the public's curiosity about our machines might be reduced somewhat, they're more similar than the previous models.
It's a wierd one this is. I was so protective around the TT when I got it. Always kept the mileage down, didn't like too many miles going on her. Just molycoddled it. Why? You don't buy a day to day car to have it sit on the drive or in the garage. I could have bought a little Fiesta if I wanted to avoid driving or using the car. Now I have realised that the car is for driving, she wants a thrashing and she gets it!
I cane the hell out of mine, its there to be driven, as long as you maintain it properly I dont see the problem! As Ryan has said above its a mass produced car its not a one off but even then its about having as much fun as possible
Car is now Sold!!!!! BMW 7 Series for now as nice and big but holding out for something a little special as my toy
I got a quote for my servicing lately, £150 in one VW garage in Glasgow and up to £179 in Edinburgh, including all parts labour etc (yeah right) add another tenner for the erroneously named courtesy car.
Oddly, the Edinburgh garage actually encouraged me to leave it til it was showing 10,000, saying that the automated system currently screaming at me to get it serviced on the MFD shouldn't necessarily be given any attention. Saying that, going to feed it some oil today.

Whats the cost out of interest?
£208.48 this included a Ltr of oil given to me at reception <thought it was free> then found £11.73 on the bill, con.
Couldn't reproduce wiper rattle on service and denied that they had any knowledge of such a fault <or vw uk> but wipers were still stuck to windscreen, therefore they didnt even turn them on!!!
Just noticed this on my bill... Quote, Unable to hear chatter from wipers at time of test. To date we are not aware of any issues regarding this fault as are VW.
Anyone got anything in writing from VW, or know of a service bulletin??
i have mine 3 months and done 12,000km cant stop drivin it i love it so much and as ryan said i told my insurance company i will b doin 15,000km a year
