Selling my Rocco

Post by Sebbristol »

Hi All,

I am considering selling my Rocco only had it about 5 months. Bought it from Evans Halshaw in the summer for £14500 it only has 39k miles and full service history. I will be looking to sell it for around £14K!
The main reason will be as it costed me nearly £2000 to have it fixed! 2 months after I purchased it had to fix the rear suspension then last week inlet manifold went with hand brake cable needing replace and rear brakes had to be replace!! I had a warranty from Evans Halshaw not worth a penny there is more exclusions on the paper but has been advised that my car is fully covered for everything!

My question is my price reasonable? Car is in immaculate condition used Autoglym on it every week and had new Pirelli's fitted not long ago.

Many Thanks

What reg is it? I bought my ROC in the summer, 2010 60-reg, for £13,500 and it had 34,000 miles on it so similar price and mileage to yours. You can't compare directly as mine is the GT TDi 140 with DSG and you have GT TSi manual. There are more diesels around so there is a premium for the TSi over the TDi, against which DSG fetches more than manual. My gut feel is your price is about right, if it's 11-reg or thereabouts.

I can understand when a car has cost you lots of money, you fall out of love with it and want to sell. But with a full history and its problems fixed, you might be selling a good 'un that's worth keeping!

It's a 10 plate with manual gearbox it's the GT with 210 BHP. I absolutely love the car but it seems like one thing is going wrong after another! And fighting with the dealer every time something goes wrong because 'warranty' does not cover me for stuff it's time consuming ! I had the car in the garage nearly a week now trying to get it sorted and try getting my money back.

Being completely honest, I think you would be very lucky to get £14K, I would say at a push £12,750 and even then I would be surprised. I know this is difficult to swallow, but with the time of year as well there may not be any ready buyers.

Fingers crossed somebody may pay near what you are looking for, it does have reasonable spec. as well, but I would lower your expectations on what it is worth.

Hate to say but that car will only sell below 13k. Garage/dealer mark-up vs private sell is around a £1500 difference anyway so if you were to have bought it and then sold it the next day privately it only would have sold for about 13000-13500 max the factor in the fact you've had it for 5 months, put some mileage on it and it's gained another previous owner I would value at around 12500 -1300 max! you always take a big hit buying a car from a garage/dealer and then selling so soon after. I know as I did the same thing :(

Well I have the sunroof with the kenwood radio which costed me £1500 and the reversible 19inch alloys which were a £1000 for the set so I think around £13800 I would be happy with considering those extras.

Sunroof was there when you bought it so that would have already been factored in price. And regarding kenwood radio and alloys I would sell and put back to standard, lower asking price, you'll make more money that way.
