GTS Servicing

Post by char »

Hi guys

Wonder if you can help me out with a service query. My GTS has done just over 10k miles and I get the "Oil Change" displayed on the dash. I booked the car in for a service but the garage are stating that they don't need to service it until 20k miles and basically I can just pop in and they will reset it.

Should I be concerned or can I safely ignore it until 20k miles? I have QI6 in the manual which is 20k mile service but it says the Oil change is dynamic :?

Cheers

Looks like the car has been set on a long service schedule in the service book but the car has been set for an annual service or every 10k miles. Oil changes on long service plans are dynamic and depend on mileage and type of driving. If doing lots of short journeys, particularly around town when the engine does not get really hot then you are probably on the wrong service plan as oil will require changing at 10k miles. I am on an annual plan and mine gets changed twice a year (the 6 month change I do myself using VW parts) as I only do about 10k annually and quite a lot of short journeys. So whether it needs changing or not depends on your type of driving/use.
