Golf 6 Gti D2 big brake kit

Post by SwedeScirocco »

Hi everyone!

I have a question about buying a big brake kit for my Scirocco.

Can the Golf mk6 gti brakes fit my Scirocco? Both are build on the same A5 platform right?

Im looking at buying the D2 brake kit. Both front and back with 6 piston calipers with the 356mm disk but they only have it for the golf 6 gti.
But I have been reading around that the mk6 and scirocco has the same platform so it should work.

What do you guys think?

Best regards/ Anton from sweden.

Do you have any tip on which servo I should use ?

Is the servo on the Rocco R enough?

Never heard of anyone upgrading the servo before.

I've fitted bigger brakes on an RS2000, a Caterham (no servo), Subaru imprezas (two kits on four cars) and Focus ST170s (2 off). Never touched the servo before.

Why do you need to? The servo just increases the pressure in the brake lines, that would work equally well for any brake caliper would it not? If you need to then how do you do it?

Yeah I was thinking so also! Talked with a friend today who have build a lot of cars and he also told me I don't need to do anything with the servo.

Thx mate!

Issue is depending on the amount of pistons and the size of them... too many pistons or ones which are too large will give you a long weird pedal feel.
Anything that fits on a Mk5 / Mk6 will fit a Scirocco as it's the same car.

Speak to Alex @ AKS who can supply you a very good set up for £1200...new TTRS calipers, Pagid RS4-2 pads and new discs which are better than the crappy TTRS discs ... getting mine on the 15th. :)

Yes it is, built on the PQ35 Platform.
The suspension components, bushes, hubs, steering arms, engine mounts, brakes, disc offsets, calipers, etc, are all the same.
The only thing that is different is the springs (in height and weight, they will still physically fit), dampers (again, only in rating as they will physically fit) and of course the curvy body  .

I will update with my brake upgrade tomorrow on my build thread to share the experience
