Well update on mine, sort of. It's still in vw, passed the mot and been serviced. Slight oil leak from oil separator, breathing pipe and oil cap, so getting that done.
I was expecting it back yesterday, but they rang and told me it wasn't making the noise, that's a good one as it's been making it for as long as I can remember! So they said they'd call me back, sure enough a couple of minutes later they rang back. Turns out it is making the noise and will be Monday before they can look at it!!
As I was supposed to get it back, I didn't have a courtesy car.
I could have picked one up today.... But test drive of audi r8 v10 plus at an audi showcase got in the way. So no car at the moment and find out next week when I'll get mine back.

Re: Whine / noise from engine 2.0tsi
I heard back from vw today. Not the response I was looking for though. My car is ready for collection tomorrow. The master technician has decided the whining noise is a characteristic of the engine and other scirocco's on site sound the same. So after 3 days and lots of conflicting information I will have to live with it, until something goes wrong. To top it off I've been charged the diagnostic fee for this conclusion.
To say I'm pissed off is an under statement!!
The oil separator has been replaced and even though I have an all component warranty, with breather pipe and oil cap it comes to £219 plus the diagnostic on top. Apparently the separator isn't covered because oil leaks aren't covered under warranty. Even though I have another free service and mot next year, I'd rather pay and take it to an independant specialist.
I have never trusted main dealers and this has just confirmed my thoughts. I don't even know if what they've done was actually required! Anyways rant over.
