"P0544 sensor one for exhaust temperature bank 1 gt5"

Hi all, I've just joined this forum, and I've joined it on behalf of my son who's currently overseas (army).
He owns a 2009 Scirocco 2.0 TDI, and it's been flagging a fault which has been diagnosed as: "P0544 sensor one for exhaust temperature bank 1 gt5
Electrical malfunction."
Apparantly there are more than one exhaust temperature sensors fitted - can anyone help us to identify the correct part?

Is this a VCDS code? Is not listed as a ross tech error code.

I'm sorry I don't understand - I'm new to all this.
I looked it up on http://www.gendan.co.uk/codebank/results.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, and it lists it as "Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 1)"

So I'm trying to find out where it's located on the car. I know of at least 2 exhaust gas temperature sensors, there may even be more, and I need to know which one is "Bank 1, Sensor 1".
