Lack Of Power

Post by Mick »

Help....
I used to have a 2007 2.0 EOS Td Sport with 140BHP.

I now have a 61 plate Rocco 2.0 GT Bluemotion with 140bhp.

Question is, why was the EOS much quicker in every gear? I'm baffled. My Rocco is still under warranty so I don't want to be re-mapping it until the warranty is up? Will re-mapping make a big difference to fuel economy and performance?

Have you had it plugged in to VCDS to check for any errors that would relate to performance?

Having checked the Specs of both engines they should be exactly the same, also the Scirocco is around 200kg lighter which should mean better performance.

The only thing I am unsure of is maybe the Bluemotion is geared differently for better fuel economy.

I think you'll find it's down to the power delivery. I'm pretty sure the 2007 EOS had the PD (Pumpe Duse) engine whereas the Scirocco has the CR ( Common Rail) engine. The former has a more aggressive power delivery whereas the latter is much smoother over a wider rev range. Although the max power output is exactly the same, how it's delivered is totally different. If you were to look at the power / torque graphs of both engines, the difference would be clear.

You'll probably find there is nothing wrong with your car and the feelin is just down to the different characteristics of the 2 different engine types.

Thanks Bob......I basically think im expecting the Rocco to perform the same as the EOS.....To be fair I bought the Rocco more so for fuel efficiency rather than power.

Well after having the car back into VW today to be checked out, the technician couldn't find any problems or issues. He reset the mpg reading before he took it on a road test and came back with 56.2mpg!!!! I get 46mpg around the doors so that obviously is down to how I drive it..

You should get a bluefin mate. Won't affect warranty. Unless of course your ecu is protected and they have to remove ecu which come to think of it it probably will be yours being a new diesel and all! HOWEVER, evidently if you get your car bluefin enabled it won't affect the warranty as they reset the ecu counter... By the way Bluefin will take you to 177hp!

How does the fuel economy differ with the Bluefin and approx what is the cost of a Bleufin remap?

when your remapping a diesel you will get better economy. By how much I'm not sure but it will be noticeable. and it costs £400 maybe a little less.

I Felt the same with the power in my 2.0TDi BlueMotion 140bhp, i got it remapped by REVO and my GOD it makes a difference, before 6th Gear would max out at about 120, now 6th takes it over that easily, 135 top but still had more to go.

WILLIAM.....Hows your fuel consumtion once you had the Rocco mapped? Ive still got 9 months or so left on VW warranty so will most probably wait until it elapses then have it mapped.
