VAGCOM DLR question - updated

Post by reefman »

Just got my new cable and have managed to get the horn beep on locking set and set the mirror down on reverse but that doesn't work is that only on folding mirrors? The code was accepted if that's relevant. The car is a 13 plate model.

Anyway onto the DRLs

I'm working in Central Electronics - Coding 07

I've unchecked permanent running lights - Byte 11 Bit 2

Which left me with no PRLs lights but how can I get my sidelights to run as DRLs - I'm sure there was an option for this on my 10 plate.

I can set the fogs a DRL's which sets both the fogs and sides on but is this legal to run with front fogs all the time and tbh I'd rather not have the fogs on just the side

I've seen the option to reduce the DRLs output % if I drop this right down will my sides still be on?

There's also an option other lights as DRLs which is checked

Can anyone help out please

With regards to.the mirror dip on reverse, make sure the mirror switch is in the "L" position otherwise it doesn't work. That's caught many a person out:-)

When in the alternate "dipped" position you can adjust using the joystick to set the exact position you want it. When you come out of reverse or move the mirror switch position away from "L" the mirror will return to it's normal position.

I've got power folding mirrors but I don't think that's a requirement for it to work but I'm not certain.

If it's checked on the MFD and you have the mirror switch set to " L", assuming a RHD car, then it should be working. Sorry nothing else I can suggest.

You need folding mirrors to achieve mirror down function.
Or polar fis as metal jay points out. What ever that is

Polar FIS plugs into the CanBus and gives you additional functionality through the MFD.

Lots of info on the site. If your car is post 59 reg it can only be done by changing the wiring and not by changing 09 controller settings. You can turn the headlights off so they only come on when it gets dark via the light sensor but not make sidelights work as DRLs.

Thanks - messing about yesterday with the settings and I think I've actually done it I say think as I've not checked it this morning and it was getting dark last night so the auto function was tripping in.

At one point I had front fogs no sides and I'm sure I've only sides two. I think it the %drl which if the fogs as drls and this set to zero drops the fog but the sides are still there I'll check when I get home it was late last night and my head was spinning

OK checked it out and I've got just the sides (well rears as well) Salsjoe was that what you meant about changing the wiring to get the rears off too?

Anyway here are the settings on mine. Central Electronics - Coding 07

Byte 11 - Bit 2 unchecked Permanent Running Lights via low beam active

Byte 14 - Bit 1 checked drl via fog lights active

Byte 15 - Bit 6 checked drl via other lights active

Byte 24 - Bit 0-6 Decimal value 1
Bit 7 unchecked drl as position lights active (strange this as you'd think it should
active?)

I have noticed that with the lighting switched set to off the sides do remain on, but the auto function for low beams works as true auto lighting

Sorry if this is already known but hopefully it may help someone

Strange that ... I'll double check my settings but certain its as above. When I first did it I'm sure I had my fogs on but did it again and it worked. Is it that the settings for the % actually dim out the fog as they do the main beams if the fogs as dlr is selected?

Did the 1% setting actually take effect when you did it?

Other than that wonder if it a build week change not sure what week mine was.

Go to the build sticker on the boot floor, ignore the first four digit no,the next two digit no.is the build week, the next single digit no.is the day of the week it was built ,i think 1 = Monday.
If this info is not correct i am sure someone will correct me.

The % seems to come back to 92% despite the coding being accepted after "do it".Any suggestions?
