Re: Squeaky window seals
Sorry for dragging up another old thread But the squeaky window seals when opening is driving me crazy!
Is this the correct one to get? Doesn't say it it has an applicator.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/SONAX-GummiPfle ... roduct_top
Also do you apply it to both the outside of the seal and the inside where the window goes in between the rubber?
Thanks

Re: Squeaky window seals
Yeah that should do it.
The applicator is the top of the bottle. When you take the lid off there's a sort of spongy plug in the top and it seeps through that as you apply it.
I just ran mine along the glass and it seemed to work fine.

Re: Squeaky window seals
It's not like a Pritt Stick other than the shape. It's full of fluid and when you remove the top there is a felt applicator pad.selleym wrote:Arrived today and its a solid stick like a pritt stick sorta thing....

Re: Squeaky window seals
Update:
Seems to work. Leaving a smear at the top of the window for now but that's probably just excess stuff.
Will have to give it a proper going over later. Real test is how long it will last
But squeaky windows gone for now
Update 2:
Only works for a few days then starts squeaking again....

Re: Squeaky window seals
Would the Einszett Gummi Pflege work with the squeak with the windows going fully up and down?
Mines starting to devlop a squeak occasionally when im closing my drivers window.
Or is it just for the inital drop when the doors open?
Thanks

Re: Squeaky window seals
Mine squeaked when doing fully up and down as well. Which seems to be fixed from using the Gummi Pflege.
As there is a rubber seal on one side of the window that runs all the way up.
If the noise is coming from the window rubbing on seal it should cure it.
But it could be coming from inside the window mechanism like something stuck in the runners.
Is it just one or both of the windows?

Pretty certain its not the mechanism and just the rubbers, only happens on my drivers side window.
Ill get some ordered and give it a try

Re: Squeaky window seals
DONT buy this one if ure having squeaky window seals!!!
http://www.amazon.co.uk/SONAX-GummiPfle ... roduct_top
Its fine for treating normal seals!
But because its a solid stick it leaves a slightly sticky residue! Which means it doesn't help with the seals that the windows slide over! Works for about 24 hours until it dries then it squeaks again!
Just a warning to others!

Re: Squeaky window seals
Took it to the VW garage at the weekend just talking to the mechanic about a few rattles. Told him about the rubber seals squeaking and he just went and got the VW rubber treatment stuff.
Treated the seals for me for free in the car park and i am squeak free for now ...

Re: Squeaky window seals
My Roc is going to VW on thursday as my rear left tire makes a loud clicking noise around 75mph....has anyone experienced this before?
Do you know if I need to buy Gummi Pflege or if VW will just fix it for me?
Thanks!

Re: Squeaky window seals
Hey folks - what's the verdict on this one then? I'm having the exact same squeaky window problem and it drives me nuts, but it looks like there are some mixed reports as to what works as a long-term fix and what doesn't really work at all!
I've heard that Autogylm Silicone Spray can work: http://d.pr/WCfm as well as Autogylm Vinyl and Rubber Care: http://d.pr/AtO7
Then again I also heard the Sonax GummiPflege stuff was great: http://d.pr/Bler - but the reviews on here don't look so good!
What do you guys recommend?
Cheers!

Re: Squeaky window seals
Thanks for dragging up this thread, my squeaky windows are beginning to make me twitch a bit. I will try the Gummi stuff and see how I get on. Will buy it off ebay and make sure I have the correct one.

Re: Squeaky window seals
If you can't wait than Halfords Silicone Spray worked for me, costs about a fiver. Also keeps moisture out which helps prevent the windows icing shut in winter. I've used it on all the frameless windows cars I've owned, without any problems.
