Hey guys you probably saw my post about my car making very weird rattling noises yesterday...
Well i managed to take it just to a local garage and they seem to think it is the Dual Mass Flywheel or throw out bearing
which i have been told should not be going on a car with only 33k on it and Cuprabob said in my post yesterday to try
Volkswagen for goodwill and was just wondering how i would go about it and if any of guys have been able to get any
goodwill out of volkswagen yourselves?
Any help would be greatly appreciated !

In the first instance, you need to go through the VW dealer network and have them confirm the diagnosis and they will take it up with VW on your behalf. If you don't get any satisfaction you can then raise it with VW direct by calling BVW Customer Services.

The.car needs to have a FVWSH and there is a decreasing scale of goodwill from 100% down to 10% based on age and mileage.

I have received goodwill on a couple of occasions and it really help if you have a good relationship with your dealer and they fight your corner.

Assert your rights under the sale of goods act to the seller if it's not a wear and tear fault.

Will i still have the same sort of argument though if my warranty has run out ? I have full service history with them though if that goes in my favour ??

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me on 4 October 2013 regarding the corrosion on the wheel arch and tailgate of your
Volkswagen Golf R32.

I was sorry to learn of your disappointment regarding the corrosion on your vehicle. I have spoken with Christine Boyce,
Warranty Clerk at Arnold Clark Glasgow Crow Road, who confirmed your vehicle was inspected by Kenny Pursely and was confirmed
not to be a warrantable defect.

The corrosion on the wheel arch is a result of a mechanical defect caused by the inner wheel arch liner rubbing against the rear
of the wheel arch panel. The wheel arch liner has a foam edge which can trap debris from the roads and as the wheel arch liner
can flex under wind resistance this enables any trapped debris to chaff the rear of the panel.

The tailgate corrosion had been diagnosed as edge and fold corrosion which is not classed as through corrosion. As a result 50
per cent towards the cost of repairing your vehicle has been offered as a gesture of goodwill.

Whilst you remain disappointed with the level of support offered, this is Volkswagen UK's full and final offer. Once again,
thank you for bringing your concerns to my attention and for allowing me the opportunity to respond.

I couldn't be bothered arguing so sold the car to a salesman from the branch that inspected it(got what I wanted for it)...guess what? he had all the repairs done under goodwill from vw uk f.o.c.
Just hope my Scirocco R doesn't suffer the same... :rolleyes:

So i took it to the VW garage i bought the car from and they tol me they could not diagnose the problem without stripping the gearbox and they wanted 450 for it ! And they said that could not even be the problem! I've contacted trading standards and volkswagen HQ myself now to see if i can get any help with this
