Hi, Being a newbie to the forum and the Scirocco I wondered if someone could perhaps offer some advice or help.
To start with, a couple of weeks ago, I bought a Scirocco R Line from a main dealer which was their ex demonstrator, it has the DSG gearbox and just over 2000 miles on the clock.
It's the first time I've had any experience with a automatic box and whilst I love driving with it I had a strange occurrence with it this morning. I'd stopped at a junction and on pulling away the engine raced like mad and I realised it was stuck in first gear I then slowed up to a crawl and it corrected itself.
When I got back home I rang the service desk at the dealership and the guy there said he too used to have a Scirocco and it happened to him a couple of times and not to worry about it unless it happens a few times. He said you did right to slow up because that usually does the job. That's OK but what happens if it does it at a busy traffic lights in town, I could soon have somebody vanishing up my exhaust pipes. My question is, was this good advice or him just trying to put me off because I'm no expert but I would guess it's probably some kind of software problem rather than a engineering one.
I'd appreciate any thoughts on this.

Hey!
Just a thought, but perhaps it might be helpful to take the car somewhere quiet and see if you can reproduce the problem? Do a few pull always from stationary and see if it comes back. I think if its something that recurs, its worth getting investigated. Good luck!

Take it the gearbox had not been overridden just before you started back off again? Over riding puts it back into 'manual' operation for about 30 secs before returning to auto. That has caught me out on our Polo a few times and it will hang on in 1st gear unless you paddle up.
By the sounds of it you were in full auto without having overridden the box, that is clearly not right.

I was going to say did you accidentally have it in s mode? That holds gears longer
