Opinion on 1.4 122 tsi

Post by Dast1g »

Long time lurker and think this may be my third post ha . Just looking into buying one and want opinions . What's the car like as a daily ? Any trouble with them? Looking at 2011 1.4 tsi 122 . Not getting diesel as don't do enough miles to warrant it. Thanks .

Not driven that engine in a Scirocco but had it in a (manual) Golf Mk.6 - I found it to have respectable performance and be 100% reliable. You will be fine with it unless you are looking to beat people off the line at green lights....

Had mine from new nearly 3years now, reliable, gets along and pulls away nicely, I have a 15mile drive each way to work and get up to 45mpg on a good run. If buying from new you have most options to spec it up to a GT. the only thing not available is the DSG gearbox.

Had no problems with my 122 for the three years I had it.

If you're not afraid to rev it into the power band you can get some nice acceleration developing.

Cracking MPG too:)

Not sure if you still looking but I've got a 122 and whilst fun, don't take anything bigger (including the 140tdi) out fora test drive. It'll only make you yearn for one of these. The diesel 170 is great fun and put my 122 to shame. If you can stretch to any of the others I would
