MFD trip computer resetting every trip problem

Post by Jamie_liverpool »

Hi everyone,

Recently my MFD has been resetting itself every time I start the ignition, if the car has been off for more than an hour or so. So my travel time, MPG average and distance all reset. Whereas it used to only reset when I done it manually. So I'd fill up the tank, do around 550 miles and I'd see the total travel time, mpg and distance.

But now it's resets every time. Iv been through all the settings thinking i might of pressed an option for this to happen but cannot see anything. Iv even resetted the MFD to factory settings aswel and nothings changed, it's annoying me now!!!

Anyone ever heard of this or had a similar problem? The car is still under warranty so I'll take it to VW if I can't sort it but I'm worried they won't take the problem seriously.

Any help or suggestions would be great

There are 2 trips, one resets every journey, the other is reset manually. Press ok to toggle between them, there should be a 1 or 2 displayed to tell you which trip is being shown.
Just Bought - White Scirocco with DSG and leather.

A reset only occurs after 2 hours of inactivity, otherwise it retains the journey data. As above, the 2nd memory does not reset automatically, use 'OK' button to switch between them.

If it is resetting every journey (ie within 2 hours), then yes, sounds like a software glitch of sorts which means a trip to the dealer.

Alright lads,

Thanks very much it's sorted now, I had just changed it to the "1" memory and didn't realise . The "2" memory is working fine I just didn't realise I'd changed it, how stupid do I feel now!!

Thanks again

Glad there is no fault Jamie, I have inadvertantly switched mine to the other mode while driving, but yes - it resets if the car has been off for 2 hours.
