Red plastic decoration for Scirocco's front - where to get?
Hello!
I want to know where can I get this kind of red plastic so I can have my Scirocco's front decorated in red like this (just like the GTI):
All I found is this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Car-Grille- ... 25&vxp=mtr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I have used it on my Tiguan for the front grill, but it's just like 0.5 cm wide, and can barely be seen.
The red lining in the pic above seems to be at least 1 or 2 cm's long which makes a huge difference.
Do you guys have any idea, where can I get this from?
Thanks very much!

That's not really helpful. Obviously any 1-2 cm wide beveled red stripe will do.Rob wrote:It's just ordinary red pin stripe
The question is (again) - where can I get them? An ebay link will be greatly appreciated.

There is such a thing on eBay and on here that's called a search function, if you were to type in "red stripe 20mm" I dare say you'll get a few hits, oh and you're welcome! If you hadn't been as abrupt with your reply I would have told you that it's the part that the tape sticks onto that's beveled, how do I know this??? Maybe because I did it myself about 2 1/2 years ago!

I'm amazed by your stupidity.Rob wrote:There is such a thing on eBay and on here that's called a search function, if you were to type in "red stripe 20mm" I dare say you'll get a few hits, oh and you're welcome! Seriously I joined this forum to get help.
What you did here is making you look dumb and super not funny.
Now, Mr. Obvious, please make an eBay search for "20mm red stripe" and notice the results. Hints: what you get is 20mm red FLAT stripes. Now scroll up and read the previous posts... I'll help you here! It says that I'm looking for BEVELED stripes. Another hint: beveled is not flat.
Can I get help here, please?
All I got so far is bad entertainment.
Thanks.

My stupidity???? Have you actually looked at he area where you intend to put said bevelled stripe??? That part is in fact bevelled hence why every one actually uses FLAT stripe as bevelled will not sit right and just look wrong!!

Hey Fright.
Check here for some ideas/products - http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... php?t=4587" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
My vinyl tape stripe is still stuck fast after nearly 4 years!
Rob is right that you'll need flat vinyl tape the width of the curved area you're covering. Use a piece of paper to measure the curvature, lay flat and measure the width - remember to measure the thickest portion you wish to cover.
I also tried some curved products, however it looked terrible and didn't follow the curves neatly (bad fit with lifted areas), so took my time with applying the flat tape and it looked so much better.

have to agree with rob here (and not just because he's got a top name ) i don't particularly get involved with meets and stuff like that but I'm polite in the help i ask for and try and help others out, it seems the forum is becoming google with users getting riled up when they don't get answers straight away, or answers they don't agree with , which defeats the point of a forum really

Dude !, you need to wind your neck in . You come here looking for help (without even having the courtesy to introduce yourself) and within 3 posts you're slinging insults about and getting all arsey over a 'tongue in cheek' reply ??? . I'm guessing that either English is not your first language or you've got an attitude problem ?
For a start , 20mm stripe would be Waaaayyyyyyy too wide
This is my own car , and i've used a red 6mm (FLAT !) vinyl pinstripe
It fits the moulding feature on the lower front grille perfectly and with a bit of heat was easy to 'bend' around the corners . As has been highlighted by other members the shape comes from the profile of the lower grille itself - a thick bevelled hard plastic body moulding (which is what you may have meant , but didn't ask for) would be a nightmare to try and fit , and would more than likely peel off at the first sign of water.
I followed Rob's (perfectly acceptable) advice and typed red 6mm pinstripe into ebay , and got 47 results - it wasn't particularly difficult....

Thank you, that's what I was looking for!
How do you stick them though? They don't come with glue on one side, right?

Re: Red plastic decoration for Scirocco's front - where to g
Yes , the vinyl is self adhesive - it has glue on one side.
Make sure you've cleaned the lower grille with detergent to remove all traces of polish / wax , then just peel the stripe off the roll and apply it to the grill .
Use a hair dryer to gentry warm the stripe as you go around the corners to stop any creases. When you have finished , go back over it and use the hairdryer to warm the full length of the stripe and rub firmly with your finger.
Mine has been on through 6 months of UK winter and rain , with no problems .

Has anyone ever thought about/seen/done this in a chrome effect? What do people think?

Obviously it's personal preference but in my opinion, chrome and the Scirocco do not mix well together.
