Did raise this question on the back of a DSG thread but thought I'd raise its profile through a new thread.
It concerns having a rough idle when warm (oil temp in the 80oC range). Rev counter shows around 750 rpm, doesn't seem to flicker much but it feels like a misfire (transmits through the car body - quite lumpy at times, feels that it might cut-out if it were to get worse). No problems when cold nor any apparent performance problems.
I have searched the threads on rough idle issues but these seem to concern rough idle when also cold and, invariably, centre around the issues with the 3rd pot on the earlier 1.4s.
Model is a 1.4 160 DSG, 11 plate.
Car is under warranty still, but just looking to arm myself for the dealer visit.
On a second question, I've noticed that the driver door pull inside and outside is feeling a little clunky: is simply an adjustment needed to the hinge 'catch' on the BC pillar (forgotten what you call it!), or a possible issue with the mechanism?

Re: Rough idle when warm.
Mine is a 1.4 122PS, and I have been wondering about the slightly lumpy idle, when warm or cold. I had it checked twice in the main dealers, who assured me it was fine, but I wasn't happy, and decided to get it checked by an independent company before my warranty was up.
I brought it to a highly reputable engine tuning company in Dublin who've been in business for decades, and to whom I'd brought one of my first cars in the early 90's. They hooked it up to their machines and found no fault whatsoever. I think its kind of the fact that it's just a 1.4 engine and they're trying to get as much performance and economy from such a small engine.
So for me anyway, I'm happy enough with the second opinion.

Thanks for the reply, carmanvw. Interesting and somewhat reassuring. The extent to which the rough idle occurs seems to be quite variable, though there are times when it seems as if it's near to cutting out altogether. I'll probably take it in for an early service, just before the warranty runs out in the Summer; possibly may improve it but, on the other hand, they may simply advise as you have found. Thanks again.

Re: Rough idle when warm.
Yeah, I'm reassured myself, however it is still an annoying trait of the car, considering, I used to do the servicing in my own cars, the first being a 10 yr old MK1 Golf, and it would always be a case of setting the correct gap in the spark plugs then the same with the points, and I certainly would not be happy with a lumpy idle, which would normally be rectified by resetting the points and checking every connection.
The points no longer exist on modern engines, so I guess the only thing that will change things is a software update if VW feel it necessary.
I generally switch off the stop/start on my car so I tend to feel the lumpiness through the seats, like you, but I think it's exaggerated by the set up of the car and seats etc, as I feel every beat from the stereo thru the seats, floor and pedals more than in any car before.
If your car feels like its close to cutting out, then I'd do the same and bring it into the main dealer before the warranty is up. Then if it causes a problem afterwards, there should be some comeback, but also, if more people report their concerns, VW may rectify it or at least give the customers a definitive answer to explain it.
Good luck with your Scirocco, moulin12.

Re: Rough idle when warm.
The 'door' for a comeback, if required, is a good point.
There's a thread on here in which the result of different spark plug settings in explained at PhD level. However, the last time I stuck my head truly under a bonnet probably involved a wrench for tapping the distributor around and a strobe gun.
Sentiments much appreciated!
