my car went in to the dealers today to have the fuel flap lock replaced,
the dealer called me to tell me they cant fix it because there is an after market alarm fitted
and there VAS tool wont comm with the central elec module?
what are my options now and why will central elec not communicate?
would turning the alarm beep mess with the module?
any help much appreciated?
p.s i have not fitted an after market alarm to the car just had the beep activated with vcds,
p.p.s have also a few more vcds tweaks activated.
warranty issue help please.
Re: warranty issue help please.
Was your car purchased new? If not then maybe the previous owner fitted an alarm?
VCDS only switches on/off feturesd already installed in the car and has no bearing on the dealers VAS system being able to access the CEM. Is it your VCDS? Can you still access the modules with it?

Just go tell them you only activated the beep, but that the alarm is standard. They will then need to find out why it won't communicate with Central Electrics.
For them to replace the solenoid they don't need to use the diagnostic computer, except to send off the warranty log, but then they should sort out the issue.

VW said the exact same thing to me because I activated locking bleep. Don't bother trying to explain as they will just say you need To return it to standard first.
Instead, ask them to prove the part is aftermarket by getting the part number, there technician will then see it's all normal.
(I did this and he came out after 10min and said it's ok it was a glitch in the car.

I had this at my VW dealer .i.e. them saying that I had an aftermarket alarm. It's amazing what they don't know. Deactivate the beep on MFD and see what happens.
I bet they didn't even plug it in!

Nah, they probably didn't plug it in. I remember going in with my beep activated and told them to investigate a battery drain fault and they managed to communicate with my CE module.nazpatel wrote:thanks guys/girls for the reply's,

To deactivate beep - off the top of my head I think it's in the "convenience" menu on your MFD. untick ATA confirm
