2010 Scirocco Cruise Control Retrofit Main Beam Fault

Post by joolz27 »

The saga continues. Got a problem with main beam which im unsure was there after the retrofit. The problem is when you select main beam then deselect it by pulling the stalk towards you main beam doesnt cancel. But if you select and deselect again it switches off. It always takes 2 switches on and off. The guy that fitted it had a problem with the main beam selector when fitting it so stripped it down and investigated. Everything is in working order and contacts are touching. Could it be a fault with the coding of the new stalk? Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

That needs to be changed in coding :) not sure what bit or byte but will see if I can find it if no one else jumps in with the answer.

My car had to have the action coded as I previously had the 2 position stalk, now it's more like a momentary action.

You need to double check the coding in controller 16 ( the steering wheel control module ) .

Hopefully , you'll have an autoscan from before you changed controller 16 for the new cruise control one.
Look at the coding of the old module and compare it to the coding of the new module - only ONE value should have changed

As an example , my old (non cruise) module had the this coding 118A040000 , and my new (cruise) module was 118A140000

You can see , that only one of the numbers changed , when i changed byte 2 to enable cruise control . It should be fairly easy to find which value you need to change by looking at your original coding.

Sorry was just reading the post again, does the value to be changed always go up by one? How do you know what to change it to? Sorry, the coding thing is new to me. Also, what if the guy doesnt have a note of the previous settings?
