Modified insurance

Post by bryand »

Hi

My Roc is currently completely standard and I have managed to get a quote for £307, thinking of fitting lowering springs and changing the alloys shortly so thought I would run a search to see how much more I would be likely to pay, cheapest quote is now £670!! I'm 38 with 13 years NCB.

Anyone here got any recommendations on where to get a sensible quote, I don't object to being charged more but over double is a complete joke.

If that was just on a comparison site then ignore it they are not geared up to it. Speak to a reasonable insurer who covers modified cars such as Sky, Adrian Flux or others who are on here as they have a far better understanding & won't just quote finger in air type numbers.

Eg I'm paying £460 this year with Sky, lowish risk area, 16k a year, 29, full no claims, 1 non fault, on a 1.4 with springs & remap

To be fair it was on a comparison site but I have also tried Sky and was quoted £450 just for the standard car, will give Adrian Flux a go though.

Greenlight!

They are the most mod friendly insurer I've ever used

Last time I called they were actually suggesting mods to make my car even better. :D

Definitely worth a call

Sky Insurance.

Defo give them a call - 03303 331 250

Mention you are on here for 10% off too.

Clive sorted mine out this year, considering what I have and the "not the best" area I'm in, it was £196 lower than last year, now sub £700.

greenlight can be a bit funny on car values, can't remember if they get funny when it is more than £20K or £25K, so they wouldn't insure my 35 but do insure my wife's mapped GTI, so i am with Sky but we have the same under writer

greenlight and sky are both really good to deal with, this year we have both premiums have fallen considerably

Thanks for the recommendation.

If the OP wishes to PM me , I can check if the planned mods will effect the price of our quotation.

Kind regards

Have PM'd you, hopefully it won't change much. I expect to pay extra for mods but some of the prices I've been quoted even from so called specialists is a joke EG Performance Direct wanted £1038!

Never heard of this - although my car is 3YO and is worth a fair bit less than £20k
