Armrest 12v socket?
Noticed in the back of the arm rest is a blanking plate for what looks like a hole for a 12v socket.
What is this for and how do I wire it up?

Re: Armrest 12v socket?
Yeah it's the exact shape for a 12v and it's been blanked off. It's above the tray bit in the arm rest. As in the rear of the unit.

Might be provision for an optional power supply for rear seat passengers using DVD players, game consoles, iPads etc.

10p says is you have the 'smoker pack' option, there's an ashtray and a fag lighter there.

Re: Armrest 12v socket?
Did you ever manage to fit this ?
Is there a 'spare' plug floating about in the rear of the console that i can connect up to , or will i have to splice into the wiring for the front 12v socket ?
Got any part numbers for the bits you ordered ( especially the '3xWires' ?)
thanks
Lee

Re: Armrest 12v socket?
You need to splice it with the front socket and run the wiring inside the gear/handbrake housing making sure it is well clear of the handbrake linkage. I needed a permanently live socket operating up to 10amps intermittently for a transceiver so I used a permanently live terminal in the fusebox with appropriate fuse rating. Did this 2 years ago. Sorry cannot remember the part number for the covered socket but it is the same as for the Golf MK 6. Just used normal aftermarket 10 amp cabling and soldered the spade terminals. Bit of a fiddle taking the armrest housing apart but other threads for fitting a covered cup holder show how.
