Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
Was driving along and car in front kicked up some stones and heard a bang.
Got home and checked front end and looks like a big stone has hit the lip on the bottom of the bumper.
Paint has gone and it's a bit smaller than a 5 pence coin. I'm abit pi$$ed off.

**** Warning ****
Just waved my car off on a big recovery van …
Quick heads up for everyone .....
I've just had both drivers side windows put thru and an attempt to steal the Stereo/ Satnav unit. Luckily they were disturbed before they got further than taking the first screw out.
I was told by the recovery driver that VW / Audi Satnavs were the current flavour of the month with the 'Toe Rag' (words changed on legal advice) fraternity.
Don't know if anyone else has heard this … but I'm putting my old 'none' Satnav unit back in for a while when I get the car back.
Just wanted to wanted people in case this is a new trend … I thought we left this kind on thing in last century ?

Re above: There have been a few incidents reported on this forum about RNS315/510 thefts. It worries me a lot, as I was thinking of changing out my RCD510 in a few months.
What area did this happen, if you dont mind me asking.

Hi – Sorry I should have said where I was when it happened.
I was parked outside a gym in Shipley (West Yorkshire), but it was the recovery driver who told me it started about a month to six weeks ago in Leeds. VW and Audi Sat Nav units only.
I think we can assume that someone has got access to the reset codes and there is now a ready market for stolen units.

Got some 8mm Red vinyl tape and spruced up drab central grille, may not be to every ones taste but it certainly breaks up all the black of the centre grille

I was soldering the ALWR unit to the CAN gateway. Never been so nervous turning on the car after i had the wires striped and soldered in the 2 wires. Luckily the car started without any problems, but the VCDS gave me alot of errors 2 min after the car was turned on everything was back to normal in the VCDS without any errors on the Xenon range controller
Tomorrow the Xenon lights will be installed

Finally got both my rear tyres changed! Now I have Pirelli P Zeros all round. I was really surprised to notice the drop in road noise from the tyres - phenomenal compared to the old Continentals that were formally in place.
Now, I might find a local detailer to give it a good ol' shine

Just sat in vw dealer whilst the technicians try to identify the buzzing noise coming from passenger side and the rattle around wiperblade area. Typical the noises didnt happen when we went out but they are going to check it out anyway. Wish me luck !

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
Well I'm back home in the same situation. They couldn't find what the noise could be so they just put loads of felt between plastics he said. And the buzzing noise , due to not hearing it there is nothing they can do.
On my way home about 5 mile to go the buzzing noise reappears !! FFS . To me sounds like its coming from either the passenger tweeter area or the door handle. They said if it returns they will check it out when it goes in for its 1st service.

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
I bet your rattle/vibration from passenger side is the Airbox mounts. Very common on the Golfs and Sciroccos, at approx 1500 RPM it sends a vibration through the cabin, very annoying. New airbox or pack the mounts out a bit as the grommets dont come seperate..

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
Got fed up of flakey GPS reception from the puck that came with the unit and so finally got round to running the aerial cable from the GPS roof antenna I bought a couple of months back. I've never had so many trim panels off a car before, luckily it all went back together again. The difference in reception has been pretty good, the Nav is seeing at least 5 more satellites everywhere.

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
Ruined my third very expensive 19" Pirelli P Zero tyre on a pothole. So that's £600 in 6000 miles to cover tyre damage.
I'm going to look into tyre and wheel insurance. Anyone have experience wih insurance?

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
I took out tyre insurance with vw when I bought my car. I stead of £500 I got it for £300. Covers up to a maximum of 5 tyres. Thankfully have yet to need to use it. But didnt want to have to keep paying for tyres.Paralla wrote:Ruined my third very expensive 19" Pirelli P Zero tyre on a pothole. So that's £600 in 6000 miles to cover tyre damage.
