Cruise control retrofit 2010 roc

Post by joolz27 »

Sorry to bring up CC retrofitting again. Have a 2010 GT TDI 140 manual, built Jan 2010, registered March 2010 and would like to retrofit CC. Was told that up to May 2010 was £192 but it ended up that this was wrong and it was actually to be over £400. I live in central Scotland and all the retrofitters are way down south. I saw on another forum that someone had gone through an Audi dealer (VW dealers around me say it can't be done). The Audi dealer near me investigated for me but then threw a new spanner in the works (hence the reason for this new thread) by saying that cars registered before and after mine can be done but mine cannot be retrofitted. Can someone clarify this? Has anyone had CC retrofitted to their early 2010 registered Roc?

Sorry I forgot to add that the Audi dealer said there is a chassis break on my car that says it can't be coded.

I would suggest containg a CC specialist such as Hazy Days to get to the bottom this - dealers are not particularly interested in doing this work.

By the way - not sure what a 'chassis break' is?

I don't see why you can't just buy a new stalk & fit it then code it in vagcom, only takes about 1.5hrs to fit ?

Agree with Mark V... I went to dealers and had similar experiences to OP, they aren't particularly interested.

First time I enquired I got a yes.. but 400 quid and a waiting list for the kits..
Second chase up then said not possible for my MY
Calling a different dealer I then got a more open servicing chap on the phone who said if it's not available as a recommended kit, dealers usually won't fit it even if they can get the parts seperately.

I went with Hazzy Dayz and they did a great job... (not linked to them in any way for full disclosure ;) )

Thanks for the replies. I have been in contact with jmb retrofits who are investigating further for me. Hazzydays quoted 350 plus vat but they are VERY far away from me. Have been quoted 499 as well. It was just when he mentioned chassis break yesterday I thought aw naw. I can only assume he doesn't have that chassis number listed in the coding list or whatever it is but has vins before and after. Who knows. Jmb has quoted 299 and he is the closest to me. I was quoted 192 and was all set to meet the guy in Manchester but when he went to order the parts he phoned to say it would be 380 plus his travelling costs. It's been a pain in the ar$e trying to get this sorted so I'm hoping Jonathon at Jmb can get it done no probs

As far as I'm aware the only real difference in price (other than markup/install fees) should be whether you need the steering controller to be replaced or not in addition to the actual cruise stalk, which inflates the cost. Be sure to check out some of the other threads, and double check your steering wheel controller version number if you have any access to VCDS.

I found out in advance that my controller was of the wrong revision, so braced myself for a £400 quid install cost.. I'm still very pleased with CC and think it was worth every penny

I'd be really keen to know if JMB can sort you out. I have the same MY and get all sorts of conflicting messages when making enquiries about this. To make matters worse I'm in Northern Ireland where we don't seem to have any retrofit companies who offer this service. I know from VCDS that my steering controller is not compatible so it would need changed making the parts alone around £290.

Its booked in on 29th August with JMB and he says it will just be 299. I will let you know how we get on. Its good to know somewhere else does it for the same money as i was thinking 299 was too good to be true as one company had quoted 499 and most seem to be around the 400 mark. Jonathon says 299 covers the steering stalk and controller and that i dont any extra wiring.

£300 seems a bit steep, the cruise stalk that I purchased was only £60 from VW & I fitted it myself & coded it, £240 to fit for 1hrs work ?

Just saying ?

Yours is the old one that only needs a stalk and is much cheaper. Mine is the newer one which needs a steering ecu/module thingy as well. Wish it was the easier n cheaper version. £300 is cheap considering one place quoted 499

That's it :(

I retrofitted CC to my old MK5 GTI, the stalk was £43 on eBay and was easy to fit. Wish I could have done the same to the Roc

Looking forward to hearing if this all works out well. Anybody know of a London area company offering a similar price?

Well thats the cruise control fitted and it works a treat. Jonathon at jmb retrofits really knows his stuff, cannot recommend him enough. He fits loads of other things as well and his prices are very competitive. Would definitely use him again. However he is now having to charge about 350 for cruise because the price of parts have gone up. He didnt realise this when i booked my car in so he took the hit in the cost himself, which was very decent of him!
