Buying scirocco, what to get, GT spec? facelift?

Post by baz121 »

Hi guys im looking to buy a tdi scirocco in white very soon.

Just a few questions, i would be grateful if you guys could help.

What does the GT models have over the standard scirocco?

Whats the face-lift model? Any key differences, or pictures of the two?

Any common items to look for, any recalls that had to be done?

Any must have optional extras?

Hi welcome mate!

Here is a useful buying guide.. http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... 10&t=13001" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I would personally buy a gt spec scirocco.
There is no face lift as of yet. Maybe due in 2015 who knows.
Defiantly look out for one with parking sensors as its such a small rear window.
Depends what year your looking at tbh, mine is a 2012 car that came with leather seats , satnav , dab radio as standerd. But if I had got it a few weeks earlier it wouldn't of been standerd.
Easiest way to find out the differences is go to Vw website click on scirocco then click compare models.

I guess it depends on what age car you are looking at. The interior got a spruce up for the MY10 cars with the main differences being the white driver information screen and the flat bottom steering wheel. A little later the heater control unit changed etc, all the info can be found on here.

If your looking for a candy white then you will be totally spoilt for choice, I'd say 70% are that colour.
I'm looking for a viper green one and they are very thin on the ground, with the rising blue closely following...however Sumatra must be the rarest colour.

If I got mine from new, I would have got the "dark oak" colour... I think it was dark oak it was called. Very, very rare.

Anyway - if you are going new, the GTS has a bit of an interior facelift.

I would definitely go GT as opposed to standard (as everyone said).

The GT from about late 2012 came with Leather interior as standard + TPMS + RNS315 (DAB radio + sat nav system) and climate control

The ones towards the end of 2009 will have the MY10 updates easily spotted by having a white display on the dash rather red.

I'm still deciding on the colour.... I'm torn between Indium Grey and Dark Oak.

Really tough choice.

Dark oak is such a great colour, if you want to stand out from the crowd is a no brainer.
VW seem quite generous with the colour choices for the Roc, you should see what they offer on the golf these days...not exciting at all

Heh funnily enough I was looking at that auction to try and get a feel for the colour. If it was a smidgen darker I think I'd like it more.

Every time I see the Rising Blue and Black I'm torn as well. DECISIONS....

That's lovely (good price too) but I don't think the photos do the colour justice.
Only ever seen one Dark Oak Roc and in the flesh (metal?) it's beautiful.

Rising blue is the colour to have, I think VW knew that and showcased it on the "R"
