DSG oil and filter change

Post by lokyt »

Hey all,

I just got my filter change leaflet through from VW. It's four years old (09) but hasn't done 40k yet. It's done approx 31,500.

Can I get it changed nearer 40k or does it void any guarantees as if not that's what I was going to do?

Only thinking about this now as I was driving to work this morning poodling about 30 and was overtaking a cyclist so put my foot down slightly on the accelerator. Then suddenly it just revved up to about 6-7 rpm. And back down to normal. Wondered whether it was a one or or because of the above.

Thanks for the heads up guys and gals.

No problem in leaving the DSG oil and filter change to nearer 40k miles, as scheduled.

Cheers Cupra,

Its nearing 32000 so should be another year or so. However does this void the warranty on the gearbox? As I am waiting till it gets nearer 40K than changing it as its four years old?

Thanks

No, it won't void the warranty, if you have one, as VW specify that the DSG oil and filter are changed every 40k miles. They do not specify a time frame, like every 4 years, for low mileage drivers, only the 40k mileage limit. VW also allow 1k miles grace so in fact you have up until 41k miles to have it changed. The details are given in the service booklet under "addition items"

It does no harm getting it changed early, if you so decide.
