Re: New Battery
I would look at a Bosch S3, S4 or S5. Only difference between them is the length of warranty.teejay212 wrote:I need a new battery for my 2010 TDi 170 - can anyone recommend a make and model and also what Amp//Hr should I be looking for ?? Thanks in advance TJ
I think you are looking at 70 Amp/Hr
To be honest I wouldn't be expecting to replace a battery in just 3 years so it may be worth a little chat with your local VW dealer as your car must just be out of warranty.

Re: New Battery
Cuprabob,
Sorry I should have explained - I've had my Roc since Mar 2010 - did 7.5k miles in Scotland before coming out to Oz in Jan 2011 - it was then put into storage till Nov 2011 when I finally brought my Roc out to Perth,Oz - since being here for 18 months it has only done 4,000 kms - I only use it at weekends to go for runs into the country - I also work away on WA mine sites for 3 weeks at a time - so I think it's fair to say it's my own fault for needing a new battery - don't you think !! Lol TJ

Re: New Battery
I understand what you're saying:-)
If you're going to be leaving it standing for several weeks at a time you may want to connect up a battery optimiser from the likes of CTEK or Optimate. I've used the latter for many years on my motorbikes which only get used in good weather, which as you know, here in Scotland, in not very often.

Re: New Battery
Just for interest the battery in my Scirocco lasted just over 3 years and that was using the car everyday.

Re: New Battery
Yeah theres a place in Pretoria West called 'Nu Shop Battery'. I got mine there.. (They wholesale and retail).
They've opened up a specific Moll Retail store in Centurion as well.
You can get it at both places. I took the business card.. (its sumwer around here)... if you want an exact address?
Prices are really good too

Dont stress. I replaced my battery a couple of months ago but it's handy for future reference. Thanks

Re: New Battery
It was a Raylite from Battery Centre in Randburg. It was R1500 versus R2500 from the dealer.
