GT 170 Remap / Clutch Issues?
GT 170 Remap / Clutch Issues?
Been doing some research into a stage 1 map on a GT 170 TDI, read some were that you can have trouble with the clutch slipping due to increased torque & BHP but only on manuals? How true is this if so does that mean your better with DSG? If so why does it have problems on manuals but not DSG?

I am by no means an expert on this - but I do have some mechanical knowledge. It makes sense in my mind - if you have a ridiculous increase in torque (percentage wise), it is possible that the clutch + flywheel combo wouldnt be able to handle it as well. It will probably cause excessive wear too.
So, it depends on how high your increase is going to be. I know a few people who have done engine mods on other cars, but they ALWAYS swap out the clutch for a high performance one. Why don't you do that?
Also, it is not entirely impossible for the automatic clutch on the DSG to slip too because of the same reason - however, it might be less noticable

DSG can handle all the torque a standard turbo can offer. Manual boxes can slip after stage 1. Luck of the draw unfortunately
