First post, wish me luck! Just bought a 60 plate DSG TSI 2.0 Petrol, 19" wheels, still trying to adapt to the road noise but I'm probably still in the phase of trying to find faults with it rather than just appreciating an awesome car. My nature is to worry myself sick about expensive new purchases, I wish I could cure it!
Anyway, I went to pop the bonnet to have a look around and the handle in the car felt a little stiff, pulled it a little hard (I've had SEAT cars so am familiar with these releases) and then it gave

A few minutes later the interior panel was off and I checked the release lever. The cable was correctly installed and moving smoothly, too smoothly.
I suspect the cable has detached in some way at the bonnet catch itself and at this time I'm fearful of a painful process to now release the bonnet in order to fix the issue.
Has anyone any experience with this? Is there a trick to allow you to release the catch? www is full of Golf and Passat owners with this problem but I haven't found any for the Scirocco. A few decent photos with a bonnet open might be the answer, can you help?

I should finish that the car was bought VW approved with 12 month warranty and still has until Sep for the original manufacturers warranty. Presumably a local dealer (bought the car from a distant dealer) could fix under warranty?
Once this is fixed, I can properly get my teeth into DRLs, VAG-COM, RNS510 updates.......

Thanks for any help.
