I wasn't really looking to swap out of the Rocco, but I was offered such a cracking deal I just couldn't say no. The funny thing is, I got quotes from 2 dealers (about 15 miles apart - they knew each other well), and despite me getting great deals from both, on the final day (yesterday) before signing, they were still fighting each other and lowering the price - yesterday alone, the price dropped by £550.00 !

To be honest, I was pretty impressed by how much I got for the Rocco. I purchased her in Jan 2011 (took delivery in March 2011) and paid £24,700 (including options and after dealer discount - list was £26,780.00). My local dealer (who I purchased the Rocco from), has offered me £15,800.00 for the Rocco, which is not only nearly 63% retained value, but he will hold the part ex price until the Golf is delivered sometime in July or August.
Add to that £1850.00 discount off the GTD (nearly 6% off list), free 3 years servicing, free Gap and free Smart Paint repair (as well as an additional set of Rubber mats for the winter), made it a no brainer.
I think what really swung it was I actually ordered 2 cars, my GTD and for the wife a new Polo 3 Door Blue-GT DSG 1.4 ACT 140ps (with extras - Xenon's, Climate, Auto Wipers etc). To be honest the deal on that was even better, with £2,250.00 discount (as VW are contributing £1000 towards finance costs on Polo's at the moment if you use VW finance), and even her current 2011 Polo SEL has retained 56%, and this isn't even a "premium" car. Again, they are throwing in 3 years free servicing, GAP, smart repairs and I've persuaded them to supply front fogs lights, as for some strange reason in the UK, when you spec Xenon's on the Blue GT, you have to sacrifice fog-lights (however they are retained in other parts of Europe - strange) !
Anyway, I digress. I decided to swing for the nearly the full package on the GTD with extras of - Pure White Paint, Park Assist, Winter Pack, Discover Nav Pro (8"), Keyless Entry, Dynaudio Sound Package, Adaptive Chassis Control (ACC) and lane assist (with heigh beam assist). The only options not selected were the 19" alloys (as I don't really like them that much, plus the ride will be harder and tyres more expensive to replace), Panoramic Sunroof (expensive at £900), and leather - Super expensive at £1,675.00 - which in my opinion just isn't worth it.
Will I be sorry to see the Rocco go, of course. It's a beautiful looking car (still after 6 years from launch), has been 100% faultlessly reliable (touch wood), and was my first DSG gearbox which I quickly fell in love with. There's not much about it I don't like except I still kick myself for not splashing out the extra and getting the 170ps model (for the very small dip in economy), and for not specifying Xenon's which I desperately wanted but couldn't afford at the time. That's why this time (with me now being in a better financial position), I wanted to spec the new car properly (and luckily Bi Xenon's with static cornering and LED DRL's are standard !)
Like I said you won't be getting rid of me quite yet as I don't expect to take delivery until July / August, (but can't wait), so I'll frequent the forums as usual, and will hopefully still be allowed back after the Rocco has gone ?
Cheers all.
