INLET MANIFOLD

Post by robinalex »

Exhaust system fault light came on for two days and went off, only had car for three weeks so took to Vw as got three months warranty. They say the inlet manifold needs replacing as the computer gave them a flap reading of 6.3% and it should be 0%. Couldn't actually speak to a mechanic and service man didn't have a clue what this meant. Car left with them and hopefully being fixed tomorrow. Anyone any ideas what this percentage reading means and why the manifold has failed? Is there anything I can do to stop it from happening again? 09 2.0Tsi and covered 41k. No other symptoms apparent other than engine light.

I had a similar problem but ended up replacing the manifold, it cost £600 to fix for parts and labour. ;<(

£600 plus VAT but not costing me anything as only had car three weeks and being done under warranty. They say they are fitting the new re-designed inlet manifold which supersedes the original and should prevent the same problem from happening again.
