Hi all, this might seem like a strange question, but can anyone with a new Rocco fitted with the Pirelli Self seal 235 x 18" tyres, let me know what the tread depth is from new.
I forgot to do it on mine when it was new 2 years ago, and I would just like to check approximately how long I have left on the current set. The car currently is coming up to 18,000 miles, and the tyres (which were swapped front and rears at 12,000), have approx 5.1mm at the rear pairs and 6.0mm on the front pairs - problem is I don't know what they would have been from new.
I've also noticed that despite running the tyres at 32psi (a pound or two lower than recommended), I seem to be wearing the centre band of the tyres quicker than the inner or outer. For instance on one of the rears, the central grove is 5.1mm, the inside grove 5.9mm and the outside groove 6.1mm ? Is this normal and anything I can do about it ?
Thanks.

Re: New tyre tread depth
Thanks Bob.
Wow, so in 18,000 miles I've only used 2-3mm. That's much better than I thought I would get. Only got about 12,000 on my MK5 Golf GT TDi with 225/40/18 Goodyear F1 Aymmetrical !
