what headlights will i get?
hi
if i ordered my car last week and its not coming till may 29th (!), what headlights will i get?
i didnt think about specifing bi-xenon because i wasn't given the option...
i've been reading around a bit and apparently they removed it as an option as they ran out due to the golf vi?!?!
can i still specify bi-xenon?
how much extra is it?
can it be dealer fitted?
how will it be effected by winter pack?
cheers

Re: what headlights will i get?
I heard from my local fleet dealer that they were never an option in the UK, the brochure was released before the specification had been finalised.
Whether this was just "smoke blowing" to answer my question to him about why Xenons weren't available I'm not sure. I'm sure someone else on here may have more information.
His words were "there are no factory fitted Xenons on a Scirocco in the UK", I have read a few posts on here stating mods afterwards though.

once again a dealer is talking out of his backside, a few guys on here got xenons, however, they ordered them back in july/august/sept last year and waited ages for their car cars

Re: what headlights will i get?
will i be able to get it retrofit if i order the bi-xenon headlights through vw services and parts?
surely you must because if you have a head on collision that knocks out your headlights, they have to replace them right?
i have to say on a whole im not impressed with vw sales staff... i ordered the car last friday, spent a week trying to get them to speak to my guarator for the finance and they still havent even taken my deposit! fortunatly, they have told me that the car is ordered so im not too worried now anyways lol
cheers

Good to see the dealer network are factual as ever. Have a look in the gallery, you will find pics of Mine, Ryans and several others in the UK with Xenon headlights. Coventry VW have a white 2.0 TSI Manual with leather , Pano roof Xenons and a few other bits on the forecourt so there are obviously a few stragglers filtering through.Greeton wrote:"there are no factory fitted Xenons on a Scirocco in the UK

Bi-Xenon retrofit
I bought a pre-configured car without xenon, to get immediate delivery. But I really want the xenons...
The dealer said Xenon's are only installed together with headlight washer and auto-leveling (dips the lights when motherinlaw is in trunk).
For supporting evidence I found a work-around cable from Kufatec:

So in theory it should be possible, but the dealer did not have the xenon light in their spare part catalog (note this is in Denmark).

Re: what headlights will i get?
The dealer is right, any vehicle sold in the UK (and europe i would guess) with xenon lights must have them fitted as part of a system which also includes headlamp cleaning and a self - levelling system for the lights. If you're thinking about retrofitting, you'll also need ballast (basically a huge capacitor) for each lamp unit as the voltage that xenons require is huge.
Also, you'll need to get someone with access to VAG-COM as the vehicle computer will need telling that xenons are fitted.
This has been discussed before on here and tbh i wouldn't bother unless you are prapared for lots of headaches and expense.
If you manage to sort it let us know as i would be interested!!

Re: what headlights will i get?
VW cruise will retro fit xenons. Not sure about the cost for the roc but for a mk5 golf its £350, i'm sure the roc won't cost much more than that.

that's an illegal kit. I'm sure you'd never get stopped as the police are too busy catching real criminals though.......

Re: what headlights will i get? BAD Idea
Sorry but it is a very bad idea to make the shortcut that http://www.vwcruise.com do.
They put xenon bulbs in the standard housing - That will blind everybody and look really cheap (think the home made spoiler of xenons)
The only way is to have a proper xenon housing fittet, preferably the original.
