RCD510 - Am I doing it wrong?

Post by Dimbit »

I have the RCD510. And buttons on the steering wheel that drive it. Kind of.

To change to a different folder/album I'm going through the following every time:
1. Press "Selection" on the screen
2. Press the fiddly, tiny little "folder up" button in the top left corner
3. Choose the music I want using the screen only

Have I missed something? There must be a better way! Can it not be done using the buttons on the wheel? Am I stoopid? Do you *really* have to hit that tiny up arrow in the corner to get to a folder list?

Well if there is another way I haven't figured it out. I initially thought the same as you, it could be navigated with the buttons on the wheel and by changing the MFD to audio, but apparently not. It's a bit of a pain having to do it the other way at times.

Use voice control. I find this easier, just press the voice button on the steering wheel, say "selection" then "up" to go back to a higher folder level. Use the commands "first page" "next page etc, then just select the track you want to play.

Still not slick but better than trying to find the buttons whilst driving ?

No, only those with RNS510 and Bluetooth. Although Bluetooth might not be a requirement as it's possible to wire the mic direct to the RNS.
