Do Sciroccos not have a low windscreen washer warning light?

Post by whiteDevil_170 »

Went to the local shop today and on my way home was stuck behind a 4x4 , when he drove through a muddy puddle of water it splashed up onto my windscreen. So I put the wipers on with washer and nothing came out . Got home and I noticed that the screenwash container was completely empty.. Looking in the manual it says a low screenwash light should appear on the dash. But no light came on... I'm puzzled .. Reading online aswell it's recommended that you use vw screenwash as the cheapo stuff can block it. Any idea how much this stuff is?

Mine warns me when it's low. Are you sure it wasn't frozen?

It worked on the way to the shop but on the return journey it didn't.. Got home and poured water in and I could hear it hitting the bottom of container, so that means it was empty. But no warning signs came up.

You need the Winter Pack, which is an option, to get the low fluid warning.

If you have it, the light comes on for 2 secs when you switch on the ignition.

Winer pack gives you;

Heated Seats, if cloth (leather option includes heated seats)
Headlight washers, if halogen (xenons come with washers)
Heated washer jets
Low washer fluid warning (at 0.5 litres remaining)

When low fluid warning triggers, headlight washers are disabled to conserve fluid.

Mine tells me every 10min when i drive that it´s low. Effing annoying as it hides the clock for about 30 secs...

My R32 used to do that and you're right it's very annoying. Thankfully on my Rocco it just lights up the small warning lamp and after first displaying the message on the MFD it adds it to the service menu. Much better:-)

Sorry to chuck a spanner in the works, I have the winter pack and mine doesn't disable the headlamp washers when it's low, it continues use to operate as normal. I must have a rogue model, lol.

Yeah mine also works after the warning is activated. Have the winter pack, standard in Norway!

I may be wrong as my R32 used to do this and assumed the Rocco would be the same. Possibly a vagcom setting like the headlight washer operating frequency.

I agree, if you have leather and Xenons all it fives you is the fluid alarm and heated jets, although the pack is cheaper.

Whoever does the packs for VW needs sacked

I have the winter pack, and once the light comes on, it stays on until you fill it up. Always seems to be on at the moment with the poor weather!!
