Strange annoying noise under acceleration

Past few days I have noticed a strange noise whilst accelerating. It can barely be heard whilst idle but soon as you accelerate it gets louder and soon as you floor it its very noticeable and annoying. Not sure what's the best way to describe it as either a rattle or something vibrating .. It's only suddenly started happening over past few days.. Sounds like its coming from in front of steering wheel by windscreen.

I had exactly the same after about a week of owning! The chap in my local dealer knew exactly what the problem was straight away. Apparently it was a heat shield vibrating on my steering column that they simply bent out the way. It was more pronounced when I turned the wheel.

Hmm any chance you know where this is so I could look at it? Not very mechanical minded. Before I attempt the dealer option.

Unfortunately no. I am not very mechanically minded either. I will have a look in daylight tomorrow though and see if I can see it

After reading the link it would seem I need to jack car up and look from underneath. Haven't Got the equipment to do that so guess ill have to go the dealer route.
