TDi 170 engine noise

Post by 19chappers89 »

Hi guys, I noticed the other day after running the car for a short period of time that it began to make a wierd "chugging" noise even though the engine was off. I turned the engine back on and off again to see if I could hear the noise again but heard nothing. After driving the car for a longer time today I switched the engine off and heard the noise again. Has anyone else heard anything similar with their Roc? Or could shed some light on what it is for me please?

It's not the fan by any chance? Happens a few times on mine after I park up when the engine is hot or it is going through the DPF regen cycle. Usually stops of its own accord within a couple of minutes.

I had thought that, just haven't noticed it before and the first time I did notice it, the car hadn't been running for long, What you've suggested does tie in with what is happening with it though, thanks for the reply.

As above, if you switch off during a DPF regen the fans run on for around 10mins after switch off.

Thanks for that info - the fan on my car ran on for ten minutes after a 22 minute drive. Couldnt figure it out at the time as it was not a hot day (in January in Hertfordhsire!!)....
