Headlights washer cap

Post by M_A_N »

Hello mates!
Bast@&ds have stolen my left headlights cap.
Have anybody come a cross with such problem?
What's the VAG number of this cover? Can I instal it by oneself without disassembling of bumper?
And as I understand I'll have to paint this component, wont I?

Update:
The parts number:
1K8 955 109 BGRU - Left headlight washer cover
1K8 955 110 BGRU - Right headlight washer cover
It's grounded.
It's possible to install by oneself.

Hi mate! Can You tell me how can I install it? I'm not sure how to lift washer jet in order to pop cover on it? Mine broke off when little bit of water got under it and got frozen... rest is a history and tiny bits if plastic somewhere under the snow...

Two person operation. One operates the headlight washer. Second person grabs carefully and holds the jet washer nozzle assembly while it is out (raised). Push the cover cap on so it clicks in place on the jet on either side. Release the jet nozzle assembly and let it retract.

If it is not seated and flush with the bumper skin, operate the jet washers and hold the assembly again. On the main stem part lower down the side, you will see a squarish clip tab and parallel ladder holding. Lift the tab at the lower edge nearest the bumper to adjust the up/down height to make the jet nozzle assembly sit flush with the bumper skin. Obviously if still wrong height, operate and grab the nozzle again to make a fine adjustment.

Does anybody actually think these things are useful or desirable? I know they are legally required on new build cars with xenons but all they do is spray your bonnet with water when you least want it. I had them in a Golf and found the lack of control over them infuriarating - plus the huge amount of extra washer fluid they consume (I know the reservoir is bigger when they are fitted but still a a pain). Such a shame you cant spec heated seats on their own as you can with Audi....

=======///untested ///=========

There is an interesting option in VCDS that may help anyone that wait for washer cover paint job... Specially in winter when You must seal this part with painting tape to protect washer mechanism from salt, sand and dirt on roads.
• [VCDS] Disable Headlight Washers
• Control unit "09-Central Electric">> "Encoding">> Byte 20, Bit 5
• Values:
• 1: SRA available
• 0: SRA does not exist

I will check if my VCDS sees this option after Auto-Scan in Scirocco.

=======///update ///=========
• Control unit "09-Central Electric">> "Encoding">> Byte 20
To disable washers simply uncheck "Headlight Washer Installed" :yummy:
