I run a Cayman S and the Roc, the Cayman is the car I use for driving fun & trackdays, the Roc is my mileage mucher.

Great cars both, but the Cayman is the one I'd choose if I had to have only one.

New boxster for me. Seen a couple now (both white) - both absolutely lovely.

New Cayman shortly too - maybe worth waiting for?

boxster 2.7 - comes in at 42.5k
boxster 3.4 - comes in at 49k

not sure if the extra 6.5k is worth it or not... probably?

new cayman would prob be awesome, but i imagine it'll be even more expensive than the current one, which is coming in at 54k once i spec it up.

Quite a few magazines seem to be raving about the base model. Try both? (Sounds like a good way to spend an afternoon if nothing else! :-) )

I was in a very similar position, maybe 4 weeks ago. Should I go for an R.... also considered a Camaro 2SS, WRX STI etc... but just initial interest.

VW dealer called and they had a 2012 R with a load of options (DSG which I thought I wouldnt want). Test drove it and bought it the next day, after a sleepless night thinking about it.
I have had it for less than 1 week and simply love it. It really feels different to the 2.0 TSI. Its like mixing the 2.0 TSI with a E93 M3 - Its awesome.

For the value, its an exceptional car too. Everything else seems to be a compromise in comparison - be it usability, interior quality, price...

they have an r up at my local vw dealer also, but i can't bring myself to up my payments for pretty much the same car.
doesn't help that my gt model is remapped i guess.

test driving the boxster and cayman today so will see how that pans out!

Also very nice. Shame about the boxster - saw another one today, still really taken with them.

i haven't written it off, i just dont REaallly want to spend £50k on a car
now if there was a current gen 2nd hand boxster in the colour and spec i want then i could be swayed.

-

having said that i can manage to spec a entry model @ 43k if i try hard enough... not toooo bad

In black is the temptation. Set of eibachs and some light black 17's. Struggling to justify the extra outlay though...

Dont you like the Mercedes C/E Class coupe's ? Or an RS5 ? i dont know if you can compare those to a porcshe to be honest but i find them nice cars, I would be swayed to one of those once im 21 in a years time, or even a Roc R' I dont see many R's , they look the biz!!

they are nice yeh,
but theres nothing special about them that would make me buy one tbh.

if im changing car i wanna be changing for the better in terms of aesthetics.

theres nothing really out there that i can see that doesn't cost 40k+ tho... :(
