Yes it is very tiring. In my case it was a car that was consuming gearboxes faster than they could replace them.

They were helpful and have opened a case, they agreed that they should fix it as its not my fault and said they would deal with it for me but to be honest im starting to lose hope on this now so I hope they arent just talking crap and do actualy help me with this...
I hope so too. I have found that withholding funds soon focuses their attention :)

At least the finance company is cooperating.

The dealership clearly don't give a toss, their money is in the bank, but the finance company is the one in danger of losing out here - stands to reason why they would be more concerned. You might have to handle this all through the finance company, in much teh same way as you would go through the credit card company for a purchase made on your card when the retailer doesn't assist.

I believe i'm correct when I say that strictly speaking you didn't buy the car off the dealer, the finance company bought it and you're buying it off the finance company, so the finance company are ultimately obliged to sort you out but may have more clout to lean on the dealership to sort this.

If the VW UK woman is saying that the dealership should have been aware of the radio unit change if they carried out all of the approved used checks they're supposed to (maybe VAGCOM or dealership equivalent system should have flagged the "foreign" unit) then they've been negligent, but maybe the VW UK operator didn't know whether a full approval check should have picked it up.

As the finance company are more agreeable and the contract is between you and them, i'd continue to deal through them for as long as you're getting somewhere with the case.

Either way, I wouldn't buy another car through that dealership with their attitude, nor give them any more custom via servicing or warranty work in the future.

You are right, all this time I should have been dealing with the finance company and no-one else. I wish I would of know this a long time ago! Certainly Wouldnt of hurt for the people at customer care to tell me this 2 months ago.... oh well.. lol

I just got an email back from citizens advice and they have told me basically that they have to fix it by law and I have two options, to seek and end-of-contract - but to do this I have to tell them now and stop using the car - which to be honest looks like thats not an option, as it would be very hard for me to just stop using the car when i do 25/30k a year!

I can, seek ‘damages’ – this would mean some of my money back - might be an amount to cover the cost of having the faults repaired, or to otherwise account for the problem. and A third option which may be considered would be for the finance company to arrange repairs and cover the cost.

So im hoping I can get the latter out of this. As much as this car has been a complete and utter pain in the arse, I do love it and I dont want a different scirocco (unless it was a R but that isnt going to happen, lol) but obviously if they offer me like for like I would accept - cant see that they would choose to do that over a repair either though...

I recieved a letter from Finance today saying they have opened a case so I will use the reference number they have now given me to document all of this in a letter to them. (Citizens advice have given me an idea of what to write which is good)

So fingers crossed over the next couple of weeks I start to hear good news about this case - otherwise its court!.. ergh.

100% never ever EVER buying another VW after this. Its a Shame but the people I have dealt with in VW have really let the team down.

Hello,

After almost a year battling with Volkswagen I Think I'm finally going to have to admit that VW aren't going to do anything about this and so i'm stuck with this problem now :( Finance aren't communicating with me now after the first initial call and letter. Customer service wont talk to me, dealer wont fix the problem, and the other garage that is was being repaired at want nothing to do with the car anymore. Think this is a case of big corp beats the little guy.... :(

So the plan is now to get past the 50% mark on my finance and trade it in because if I stop payments its only going to affect me... until that point, I know a couple of people on here reckoned that this could be coded to fix it, is there anyone around the Berkshire area able to fix this problem so I can get the buttons working again?

Appreciate the help,
Sarah

I have been through the same sort of thing with Seat, Vw and Skoda. They are sympathetic at the beginning but eventually imply that it's your problem and they can't help you. I have also said that I won't buy another Vw product but I like them and keep buying them. The Salesmen tell you that Vw rule their Dealers with a rod of iron, but the truth is they don't want to upset a Dealer to satisfy one person.

Yea they give you a lot of false hope. And again you are right on the saying you wouldn't buy another one thing, i probably would, I adore the roc, and its not the car thats at fault its a shady dealer/previous owner that faffed about with it, everything else is great (touch wood)....
