Just noticed a really cool feature which you probably all know about anyway (unless it's specific to new MY12 cars). If you switch the auto lights to the 0 position at night, all interior display illumination is turned off except for all four needles which remain illuminated in bright red (against a pitch black background) obviously you can't tell exactly what speed your going but it sure as heck looks damn cool...!!
Cool display

Re: Cool display
It's called lit needles.
Don't do it if you have Xenons though as surprising switching the light switch to off turns the headlights off :-)

Re: Cool display
Not got xenons myself, wonder why it switches them off though!!
Re: Cool display
Xenon cars have separate DRLs - on non-Xenon cars the DRLs are dipped headlights so would stay on when the switch is in 0 position, whereas Xenons will flip over to the P21 bulbs. Not good.

...and thankfully the P21 bulbs can be switched off through the MFD. It's like the olden days, no lights on unless you want them on :-)ayeaye wrote:Xenon cars have separate DRLs - on non-Xenon cars the DRLs are dipped headlights so would stay on when the switch is in 0 position, whereas Xenons will flip over to the P21 bulbs. Re: Cool display
yeah, I suppose the only way to turn off my main beam then is to set the switch to sidelights! Strange that setting it to OFF still leaves it on AUTO (appart from switching off the internals)

fell into that one, but xenons are not standard, so seems odd that the OFF switch doesn't turn the standard headlights off! not that it bothers me...

Re: Cool display
To turn the running lights off without xenons if you hold the indicator stalk towards you and down when you switch the ignition on until you hear a bong, do they not go off? My Roc is on order so cannot try it yet but thats what they do in my golf...
