DSG issues. No reverse a couple of times and today...
...whilst pulling out of a junction in manual mode, into 2nd, 3rd then when I changed into 4th I got no drive. It was like it was in neutral!. Down shifted back to 3rd and the gearbox took over again, back into 4th and everything fine. Problem looming do you think or perhaps a software update? It's a 2011 car so still under warranty.
What do you think, anyone had similar issues?

Re: DSG issues. No reverse a couple of times and today...
Similar to this but the lack of Reverse Gear is not identified as part of the fault. The identified symptoms for forward gear manual changing are down shifting, not upshifting. The DSG auto mode fault aspect is discussed here ..... http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... 959#p97075" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
TPI is now updated - 2026959/3
With it being under warranty, no brainer to leave it with a dealer. It may be a new variation on the above. The software upload doesn't take long and at least that aspect is eliminated.

Thank you for taking the time. Looks like it's something similar. Hopefully a software update will resolve it. I'll get it booked in, which I was going to do in any case, but it's worth knowing before hand if it's a well known fault etc.

It's happened again today, this time on the downshift. Looks like I better make that phone call.

How old is the Scirocco? Red or White MFD display? How long after initial cold start of the engine?
Any little white stickers on the metal boot floor under the the carpet (left side of the spare wheel well),
like this ..... White Sticker example. What is written on it/them as per the blue ink (24s4) in the photo?

This could be the linkage on the gearbox, my has a fault when you go from Park to reverse it never works, I need to go to drive then reverse... Mines going into dealer next week under warranty.

Re: DSG issues. No reverse a couple of times and today...
The car is an 11 plate and just turned 13 months old and has the white MFD. It happens when the engine is at normal operating temperature and both times it's happened I have done about 30 to 40 miles in it. I'll take a look for the sticker(s) tomorrow and post the info as requested. I've also noticed that 2nd is starting to get a less smooth and loose on the downshift...RW1 wrote:How old is the Scirocco? Red or White MFD display? How long after initial cold start of the engine?

Could be something as simple as that, lets see what the dealer says once they've had a look.welsh_rocco wrote:This could be the linkage on the gearbox, my has a fault when you go from Park to reverse it never works, I need to go to drive then reverse... Re: DSG issues. No reverse a couple of times and today...
Reason I asked was it may be a faulty temperature sensor randomly knocking the clutches into neutral because the DSG ECU thinks its seen an over temperaturing clutch. The current software upgrade isn't a fix for your symptoms. With it taking 30 to 40 miles, that would tie in with the temp sensor getting heated up to its unstable condition.Rocstar wrote:The car is an 11 plate and just turned 13 months old and has the white MFD. Common on the red MFD/early white MFD's cars upto August'09 with 6 speed DSG's (VW Recall) due to a faulty DSG ECU software mis-reading of the Clutch temperature sensor. On the later white MFD Scirocco's as in your '11 plate, the software change is now incorporated. Normally the DSG gear indicator flashes at the time it occurs which you've not mentioned.
See what the dealer finds.

Just remembered I never got the sticker info! Anyway, I've booked the car in on Monday so should hopefully find out what the issue is by mid week.

Re: DSG issues. No reverse a couple of times and today...
My local VW dealer had the car yesterday. They didn't report anything of any concern, but did say they need to update the DSG software as there were two updates for my car.
So, I have the car back and all seems well. However, I have noticed it does feel slightly different which may of course just be my driving style and have to adjust to the new dynamics a little.
Saw a nice Candy White Manual GTI in the showroom also with about 3k off the RRP. I cannot deny I was tempted.

Hi, Just for info. My car came out of warranty in April just as VW serviced it. Problems with reverse and also in manual mode, the gear numbers just flash and cannot select gear. Capitol VW in Merthyr where the car was bought and serviced now want £96 just to look at it!

Has this problem manifested itself before and if so did you report it to the dealer; if so you might still be able to get it fixed under warranty as an unrepaired legacy problem.
