Air Con Temp Background Colour

Post by gareth »

This may sound like a strange question but what colour do you lot have as the blackground to your aircon temperature setting?

I have a blue background and it looks odd compared to the rest of the red and white!

Looks like it should be red... did I get fitted with the wrong part?

Anyone got any ideas? Is it easy to take apart? Or does another VW car have one in red... ?

Here's some pictures of the Climate Control unit.

It looks like it's a single circuit board, visible through the vents, and down the top and botom edges of the unit.

I think you'd need to get your soldering iron out and go carefully. I'd bet the illumination is LED rather than bulbs.

I've bought the Climate Control unit, looking at the possibility of converting my Air Con car to Climate. It's not going to be straight forward... Looks like the easiest way is to get hold of the Air distribution unit from a Climate car. The distribution units look the same in the parts list, but the Climate version has motor operated flaps instead of the the Air Con's knob driven ones. I'll need the Climate sub loom and temperature sensors as well.

The unit I've got is meant to be from an R32, but the same part number comes up against the current 2009 Golf. Scirocco part number is different but I don't know why. Same switches, not heated seats, Dual Control.

Love to hear from anyone that's managed it.

When I went to test drive the scirocco, they didn't have a TDI, so they took me out in the Golf instead. The white display in the Golf would have suited the Scirocco so much better. When I mentioned this to the sales guy, he said the red display was intentional, to mark the Scirocco out as different to the Golf...

Do they actually believe the rubbish they come out with?

Is it possible to unscrew the unit? ... and see what kind of leds are inside? or just take a photo?

I know a local shop here in Greece that can solder different leds on any electronic device.... I used to go there to change the led colours on my old mobile phone

This is not the reason... the actual reason was to manage keep the price of Scirocco at this low level.... So they used STOCK items.... from GOLF,EOS and PASSAT CC

It doesn't matter that they have used the parts from other cars, that just means that the other cars have the same issue. There is a dashboard full of red and white lights and then suddenly there are two little blue ones WTF!!

The backlighting for the dials on the other cars is blue, so the blue lights on the climate control don't look out of place.

Yes... my own one!!!

As a result I was able to see... that this two blue screens uses the same leds as the red or yellow ones... So it could be quite easy to get those leds... since scirocco has plenty of red ones... .
The only problem is that it has to be done by a professional... since you have to remove the blue leds and solder the red ones.... It is not that difficult... since there is nothing around the leds.... BUT you need a very steady hand.... and a know how to....!!!! So I shouldn't suggest that.... if you don't know how to use a soldering iron... I will try to find a professional to do mine...
